Judge Registration

Thank you for your interest in judging at the Pittsburgh Regional Science & Engineering Fair (PRSEF)!

Kamin Science Center, part of Carnegie Museums, requires all volunteers – including judges – to submit a Volunteer Agreement Form as well as the state-mandated clearances. These clearances and agreement form must be current & on file with Kamin Science Center prior to PRSEF:

  • Carnegie Museums Agreement Form-PRSEF.pdf
  • Act 33 Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Act 34 PA State Criminal Clearance
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance OR (for those who’ve lived in PA for 10+ years) an FBI Waiver

You can begin the clearance process immediately. Do not wait to begin the clearance process until right before PRSEF, as some of these clearances take multiple weeks to return results. If you have obtained these clearances within the past 5 years, we can accept copies of them, and you may not need to complete a new clearance.

Once you receive your clearances, forward a copy to the Kamin Science Center Workforce Development/Volunteer & Internship Office at VolunteerPrograms@KaminScienceCenter.org. Please also complete the Agreement form linked below and submit it to VolunteerPrograms@KaminScienceCenter.org.

If you have questions, contact the Volunteer Office at the above email.

Clearances are valid for 5 years from their completion date. Once Kamin Science Center has your clearances on file, you will not have to resubmit them every year you participate in PRSEF; we’ll request new clearances only when your current clearances have expired.

FBI Fingerprint Clearance

Note: There are 2 options for the FBI clearance:

#1: If you have lived in PA for the past 10 years, complete and return the FBI Waiver linked here: 10Yr_PA Resident_Waiver_FBIBackgroundCheck.

#2: If you have NOT lived in PA for the past 10 years, use these linked instructions to complete the full FBI fingerprint clearance and send us a copy of the clearance results once you receive them. This clearance costs ~$26 and is at the volunteer’s own expense:  FBI Criminal History Check Instructions 5-14-24.docx.
