Congratulations and thank you for your\nsupport of the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair and the\nstudents participating in the fair!&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Logging In <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to sign the required form for the student(s), you will need to log in to your account at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.STEMisphere.org\/PRSEF\">https:\/\/www.STEMisphere.org\/PRSEF<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An account was\ncreated for you when the student or their adult sponsor added your name to the\nstudent\u2019s profile.&nbsp; You should have\nreceived an email from <a>CSC STEMisphereInfo at <\/a><a href=\"mailto:STEMisphereInfo@CarnegieScienceCenter.Org\">STEMisphereInfo@CarnegieScienceCenter.Org<\/a> with\ninformation about how to log in.&nbsp; Please\ncheck your junk mail folder if you do not see this email.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the link in the\nemail to set your password and log in. If you cannot find the email, navigate\nto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.STEMisphere.org\/PRSEF\">https:\/\/www.STEMisphere.org\/PRSEF<\/a> and use the Forgot your Password link to\ngenerate a new email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Parent Survey <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you log in, you\nwill be directed to the parent survey.&nbsp; The\nparent survey is required of all parents\/guardians supervising students who are\nparticipating in the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair.&nbsp; The\npurpose of this survey is to gather information about the STEM experiences and\nopportunities available to students participating in the fair. The data from\nthese surveys will be used as part of a longitudinal study of students and\ntheir experiences with STEM activities and education.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once this survey is\ncompleted, the project-related forms which need to be completed will be\nvisible. The parent\/guardian will not be able to view or complete the required\nforms until the survey has been submitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accessing Forms<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have logged\nin and completed the parent survey, you should see the name of your son or\ndaughter and their project title. If you have more than one child participating\nin the fair, you will see them each listed on your screen. For each student,\nyou should also see Form 1B.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Form 1B is the only\nform the parent needs to sign. This form&nbsp;is intended to ensure that a\nresponsible adult has reviewed the student\u2019s project and the ISEF\/PRSEF rules\nand consents to the proposed procedures. This completed form is required for\neach student.&nbsp; In the case of a group project, all team members must\ncomplete their own copy of this form.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This form requires\nthe signature of both the student and the parent\/guardian responsible for the\nstudent acknowledging that they are both familiar with the risks and possible\ndangers of the project. &nbsp;The form will remain in Pending Completion status\nuntil both signatures have been provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Form Status<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The form will remain in Pending Completion status (yellow\nbackground) until the parent the student have both added their signatures successfully.&nbsp; Once both signatures have been added, the\nform will be promoted to Ready for Review status (purple). The form will remain\nin Pending Completion status on the profile of the student and Adult Sponsor (Teacher,\nHomeschool parent, Club leader etc.) until the signatures of both the student\nand the parent\/guardian have been provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Account sharing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the student does not have an email address or if they\nonly have an email address which has been issued by their school and cannot\nreceive email from outside of the school, the student and parent may share an email\naddress and an account at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.PRSEF.STEMisphere.org\">https:\/\/www.PRSEF.STEMisphere.org<\/a>.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both the student and parent profiles will be available using the same log in information. To access the parent profile, click on &#8220;Registrations \/ Forms&#8221; and then on \u201cManage Parent Forms\u201d on the horizontal menu bar just below the black and white speckled area.&nbsp; To access the student profile, click on  &#8220;Registrations \/ Forms&#8221; and then on \u201cManage Forms\u201d on the horizontal menu bar just below the black and white speckled area.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are filling more than one role for this student\n(parent and designated supervisor for example), you will need to switch between\nprofiles to access all of the applicable forms. Use the on the horizontal menu\nbar just below the black and white speckled area to move between profiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reviewing the project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you complete Form 1B, review the student\u2019s research\nplan with them. The research plan should include a rationale (background\nresearch), a research question, a hypothesis, a procedure, a risk analysis, a\nproposed method of data analysis and a bibliography with at least five (5)\nsources.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are familiar with the project, review the PRSEF\nrulebook and the ISEF rulebook. Both can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/carnegiesciencecenter.org\/educators\/stemcenter-science-fair-teachers-and-students\/\">http:\/\/carnegiesciencecenter.org\/educators\/stemcenter-science-fair-teachers-and-students\/<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Completing Form 1B<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 1: Ensure that the first word you see in the white\nspace on the page says \u201cParents\u201d.&nbsp; If you\nsee the word \u201cParents\u201d move on to step 2.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you see the word \u201cStudents\u201d, you are not logged in as a parent.\u00a0 On the horizontal menu bar just below the black and white speckled area, click on &#8220;Registration \/ Forms&#8221; and then on \u201cManage Parent Forms\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 2: Click on the box with 1B in it to access the\nsignature page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 3: Wait for the form in the gray box to load and\npopulate.&nbsp; Review the information and\nconsent statement in the form in the gray box.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 4: Read the release statement below the gray box. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 5: Click the box next to the word \u201cYes\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 6: Click in the space below the word Signature and\nabove the signature line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 7: Use your mouse or touch pad to add your electronic\nsignature in the box.&nbsp; If your signature\nis not legible, click on the Clear button to try again. If you are happy with\nyour signature, click on the Accept button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 8: Enter the date when the idea for the project was\nfirst reviewed with the student researcher and experimentation was approved by\nthe parent. This does not need to be today\u2019s date. The parent must\nreview and approve the project before the student begins\nexperimentation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experiments which were completed over the summer or for a\nschool science fair will have experimentation dates which are before the date\nthis form was completed. Use this field to enter the date the project was reviewed\nand approved by the parent, not today\u2019s date.&nbsp;\nThe Date of Approval must be before the tentative start date or actual\nstart date listed by the student on Form 1A. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 9: Type your name into the Printed Name box below the\nsignature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 10: Click on Sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to check your signature<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have completed and signed the form, click on Return to forms manager in red font or on  &#8220;Registrations \/ Forms&#8221; and then on \u201cManage Parent Forms\u201d on the horizontal menu bar just below the black and white speckled area.  Click on 1B then look for the red Form Status box on the right side of the screen.\u00a0 Click on \u201cView PDF of Form\u201d.\u00a0 Check to be sure your signature is in the right place. If your signature has appeared in the student signature box, click on (clear signatures) in the Form Status box, switch to the parent profile by clicking on &#8220;Registrations \/ Forms&#8221; and then on \u201cManage Parent Forms\u201d on the horizontal menu bar just below the black and white speckled area and re-sign the form. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You have been identified as a parent or guardian of a student who has registered for the fair.
